The default top backing is black. All colors are available with a
black or tan backing by special order, except those colors marked with an asterik * These tops are available with black backings
ONLY.
Material Description & Cleaning Procedures
The material is a solution dyed acrylic. It is a soft material and
a woven fabric, like a canvas.
Most automatic car washes will not harm this fabric. Washes with water
jets and hanging cloths are preferred. Those using heavy barrel brushes should be avoided. We recommend hand washing.
Bird and tree droppings should be removed immediately. Careful vacuuming
of the top before washing is helpful in removing excess dust and other foreign particles. Wash in partial shade rather than
direct sun. Wet entire car before washing top. A soft natural hair brush is best to apply a solution of natural soap and lukewarm
water. DO NOT USE DETERGENT.
The fabric itself does not promote mildew growth. However, mildew
may grow on dirt and other foreign substances that are not removed from the fabric. For these more stubborn cases: soak the
fabric for approximately twenty minutes in a solution of no more than 1/2 cup (4oz.) bleach and 1/4 cup (2oz.) natural soap
per gallon of water.
Rinse thoroughly in cold water. Excessive soaking in bleach solution
however can deteriorate seam threads. Rinse entire car to remove all soap and bleach solution from fabric and to prevent streaking
on the painted and chrome surfaces.Acrylic fabric readily absorbs water but dries quickly. Several cleanings may be necessary.
Do Not use top dressing cleaners or conditioners containing silicones,
organic solvents, petroleum distillates or plasticizers. This product is made from 100 % solution dyed acrylic fiber which
is thermoplastic. Do Not subject to excessive heat.
The use of stronger cleansers should be left to professionals experienced
in handling this type fabric to avoid discoloration and degradation of the special protective inner layer.
A program of keeping the top clean by regular washings will enhace
the life and beauty or the top and make successive cleaning much easier.
